Whether for a final salary (DB), defined contribution (DC), or charity fund, an AEIA adviser will provide pro-active assistance with all investment matters and practical advice ‘tailored’ to the scheme’s requirements to help trustees reach well informed decisions for the benefit of scheme members including:
AllenbridgeEPIC provides independent investment experts who have all held senior positions in the investment industry to advise pension scheme and charity trustees and investment committees on all investment related issues. Our full range of services are set out in the blue box opposite.
The responsibilities of trustees have been increasing for some years now, particularly following the Myners Review and subsequent pensions legislation. AllenbridgeEPIC’s advisers all have many years investment experience and trustees can take comfort from the FSA regulated status of our team and their professional indemnity insurance cover. These matters are essential in today’s complex environment where modest expenditure on good governance can pay disproportionately positive benefits to scheme members.
Our approach to investment manager review and selection is primarily qualitative in nature. It relies on thorough knowledge, experience and skills acquired over many years acting as either fund managers or pension advisers. We can help trustee boards review their thought processes in conducting manager reviews, in particular assessing reasonable expectations, judging past performance, interpreting the managers’ explanations as well as looking out for ‘tell-tale’ warning signs.
In today’s ever more complex investment environment trustees are seeking to raise their game in terms of training and education. AllenbridgeEPIC has long term expertise in this area where we can also provide bespoke programmes relating to particular decisions, for example understanding the most up to date and alternative investment strategies. We can also proactively review pension schemes’ DC offerings, eg. is the range of investment options offered to members too large, too small and, crucially, appropriate?
AllenbridgeEPIC’s Investment Panel meets on a monthly basis with a formal agenda covering a discussion of particular client issues as well as investment and securities markets. Our last three meetings have included specialist presentations from external parties on Liability Driven Investment (‘LDI’), Diversified Growth/Diversified Asset Allocation and Long/Short Extension Strategies (‘130/30’ Funds).
